Beautifying the
District, one avenue
at a time…

The District Department of Transportation’s goal is to improve livability standards throughout the city by making various safety and appearance improvements to its neighborhoods. Enhanced pedestrian crossings, additional bus stops, increased green spaces and updates to traffic signals are all designed to better the lives of residents in the District. These changes, and others, will take place with the Minnesota Avenue Revitalization Project.

WHAT’S CHANGING?

Improvements coming to one of the District’s longest-standing neighborhoods…
 


Total reconstruction of roadway pavement and curb and gutter.

 

Reconstruction and widening of sidewalks.

 

Updated ADA wheelchair ramps and
driveway entrances.

 

New landscaping and streetscaping features.

 

Upgraded water and storm drain utility systems.

 

Upgraded street lights, traffic signals and roadway signage and pavement markings.

 

Construction of LID (Low Impact Development) elements to capture and treat storm water.

WHEN WILL CONSTRUCTION HAPPEN?

 

for 18 months: from August, 2015
to February, 2017

Working Hours: 7am to 7pm.
Some nights, some weekends.
